A lot of conversation presented as advice is merely your parents wanting to relive their own cherished memories of their early parenting days. Unsolicited parenting advice is often about them not about you; so often family members are fishing for the opportunity to share their life experiences and tell their stories. If their advice is unwanted, it’s usually not too hard to shift the focus off you and your choices to them and what they did.
