Two teenage girls who went to see Cinderella have received a very important life lesson in an unusual but very effective way.

Kyesha Smith Wood dropped off her daughter and stepdaughter both 13 years old along with her older son at the movie theaters in Birmingham, Alabama. The three of them went to see Cinderella. During the movie another mother, Rebbecca Boyd had to turn around and ask the girls to be quiet. The girls responded disrespectfully by laughing at her request. After Cinderella, the mother approached the girls and informed them that this was the last movie she would be able to take her daughter out to in a while, and they had ruined it. Boyd’s husband had just been laid off.

Once they returned home Wood’s son informed her of the inappropriate behavior that had been exhibited by the teenage girls at the movie theatre. Wood took to social media site to publicly apologize for their rude behavior.

This is what she had to say,

“This is a long shot, but I’m looking for a woman that was at Tannehill Premier tonight seeing Cinderella at 7pm. I dropped my teenage daughter, step daughter, and son off at the movie. My son later told me, much to my humiliation and embarrassment, that my girls were rude and obnoxious during the movie. The woman I’m looking for addressed them and asked them to be quiet and they were disrespectful. After the movie she approached my girls and told them that her husband had been laid off and this was the last movie she would be able to take her daughter to for a while and my girls ruined that for her. If you are this woman, please message me. I can assure you that these girls are being strongly dealt with and appropriately punished. This rude, disrespectful, and awful behavior is unacceptable and they owe you an apology. My husband and I are having them write your apology letter tonight and we would like to pay for your next movie and snacks out of their allowance. Please message me if this is you. I apologize profusely for their disrespect.”

According to ABC3340.com Wood posted her message McAdory-McCalla Community News Facebook page first. It was then shared onto the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office page.

Sgt. Jack Self told ABCnews.go.com he was the one to share the post onto theJefferson County Sheriff Facebook page. He asked followers of the page, “What do you think of the way this local mom is handling this situation? Looks like these children have great parents.”

The post was shared 5,697 times and it made its way to Rebecca Boyd.

Boyd responded to the Jefferson County Sheriff Facebook post, “I am the mom from the movie theatre. I had taken my daughter to see Cinderella. I was very upset and disappointed in the girls behavior. The note from their mom brought me to tears and shows there is still good people in the world. I have no hard feelings towards them and I am proud of their parents. The girls are not bad…they are children. Glad they are learning a lesson. I hope if my teenagers are out and they act up…I hope someone says something to them.”

She later reached out to Wood.

Wood told ABC3340.com, “She’s the most gracious, kind and forgiving woman..I am so humbled by that.” She also added that her daughters are mortified, “They are humiliated. And that’s OK because I told them, ‘You know what, you’re not going to do this again.”
